Monday May 04, 2020
It's Monday - do we sound a little slow?
Agnes' reality includes a grumpy 2-yr-old and home schooling a 10-yr old. They're in the same ballpark, aren't they?
Mar Sulaika has a dancing jasmine plant.
For the first time ever, we ran out of chat (it's a COVID-isolation thing) - for about 37 seconds!
Walks and visiting in these times; sound vs silence vs noise - we hope you wade in.
A recent Pissed on Podcast shed light on some lovely Italian shoes from Mar Sulaika's past... that conversation deteriorates along the way so we offer you both a language and content alert!
Finally, Mar Sulaika's mom's facility has been chosen for some serology testing in the near future. That's something new for us, not sure about you, so we'll let you know more as we know more.
We wrap a little early today because we acknowledge we are little less than scintillating... some days conversations are like that!
The music that seems to come and go is Baby Bum... on Netflix... entertaining the little guy! This too will pass.

Molly Shannon to COVID/Noro to All That Online "Stuff"
Thursday Apr 30, 2020
Thursday Apr 30, 2020
Agnes opes with a mini-rant on editing - thank you, Molly Shannon!
Advertising - one of our soapboxes... but really? 50 cups of kale on your face?
Real life... Agnes' alarm goes off...
Mar Sulaika talks about art/ movies et al, after the death of Irrfan Khan. Topic seems to go from grrr to waah to blah and back to grrr.
Residential care in the times of Covid (Mar Sulaika's experience) compared to Agnes' experience in the times of Noro - which means we're off to the races over the press, the role of the press, and the quality of the press.
Agnes apologizes for not remembering it was the country of Nigeria who lost their children in April 2014.
Quick turn to getting your "stuff"online - Sulaika asks Agnes, who has all the answers if only because she also writes the show notes... podcast production, blog posts, Hofstader's Law, all the moving parts in getting your stuff online - IT CAN BE DONE!!!
Mar Sulaika's questions are great if you're a newbie because, like many experienced people, Agnes forgets that it's the questions that seem simplest that need the most clarification (post your questions in the comments at the website!)
Finally, speaking of editing, Agnes gets to explain her power as editor and her definition of "flat-lining"!!

COVID 6 Weeks In, Memes, Assume/Presume, Hallucinogens and Smoking!
Monday Apr 27, 2020
Monday Apr 27, 2020
Did the title give it all away?
We're six weeks in to our COVID isolationism - Mar Sulaika is getting agitated because she hasn't seen her mom in too long and Agnes is plain tired. The subject of men comes up ad we're less than PC - be prepared.
A catch-up on Pissed On Podcast (Friday evening cocktails, coming soon!) and a shout out to Stratford and the other arts groups with free offerings.
Agnes gets schooled on the word 'meme', we all get schooled on the word 'meander' and you get schooled on the difference between assume and presume!
Liquor stores in BC are open at 7 AM now which of course takes us to Russia to hallucinogens to our own brand of philosophy.
Fidgeting, doodling and smoking get linked together as only we two can do!
Please forgive the recording today: Agnes tested a new mic trying to eliminate grandson and dog sounds, Mar Sulaika was fidgety and Skype kept on blipping!

Agnes had prepared a list several weeks ago, not sure if it's still current but you can check it out here (scroll to the bottom of the article): https://sassysavvysuccessful.com/what-can-you-do-in-these-uncertain-times/

Betty White to Dementia to Chinese Proverbs
Thursday Apr 23, 2020
Thursday Apr 23, 2020
Skype wasn't playing nice this week so we dug into the Archives for this episode! We were still using Skype's recorder so please excuse the sound quality!
From Betty White to one of Agnes' recent moves to Dementia... which means Agnes has to voice some opinions given the number of years she spent in the business!
Sulaika brings up the 30 year anniversary of authoritarian rule which of course segues into politics and women over 60.
Then... Chinese proverbs. Pay attention!

COVID (of course) and Cocktails and Teeter Totters
Monday Apr 20, 2020
Monday Apr 20, 2020
The folly of our new podcast coming at the same time as the world is gripped with the reality of COVID-19 hit home today: firstly, Agnes' reality of having her two grandsons home along with the dog who needs their attention but, more importantly, the consuming reality for Mar Sualika as her mother, in a care facility, has tested positive for COVID.
Needless to say, we start with the stress of forced separation... followed by the mundane reality of weekend is for chores.
Chat remained somewhat mellow until we ventured into word origins - "cocktail" anyone? From bitters to roosters to dreams - it really does follow. Do you follow?
Nox (the dog) is quite vociferous today - Agnes sends her apologies, it's all because of the scrambled eggs.
We tried to wrap up on a philosophical note... but that ain't gonna happen apparently... don't use the word 'tittermatorter' in a bar!
Stay healthy, friends!

Ducks and Geese and Simplicity to 1000 Ways to Die in The West
Thursday Apr 16, 2020
Thursday Apr 16, 2020
Yes, ducks and geese and simplicity and Boom! we're philosophical.
Life in 4 minute clips: quick clips... quick quips... Seth MacFarlane... pay attention!
Mar Sualika is finally able to communicate with her mom - it's so hard not to make all these episodes centre around COVID.
Agnes has adventures in 2-yr-old-land... and this podcast...
Back to nature and her resilience and the human condition.

Monday Apr 13, 2020
The first episode after the recording of out first Pissedon Podcast episode - we'll give you the link as soon as Agnes gets it all together!
HGTV vs apocalyptic TV - guess who wins in our minds.
Agnes's needy dog Nox is a recurring theme today - there was no editing her out! But it was Mar Sulaika's seagull that segued into Eddie from Frasier.
Agnes, the Gramma and daycare person, discusses her upcoming role as teacher of a 10-yr-old while running interference with a 2-yr-old.
Dementia, smoking, waking and awakening...
Finally the woodpecker/sapsucker and the mythology of oak trees.
Laugh with us!

Schitt's Creek and Bob Newhart... and The Birth of Our Brilliant New Idea
Friday Apr 10, 2020
Friday Apr 10, 2020
Please excuse our poor connection at the start...
TV-talk as Schitt's Creek draws to a conclusion - Agnes gets on her soapbox a bit about gay issues - and she's a little out of touch with current TV so discussed Bob Newhart... which led to Kim's Convenience and The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel.
If you are of a faith related to the next convo, please excuse any ignorance we show, it's certainly not meant to offend and we are open to education.
Finally you bear witness to how new ideas are born and the inspiration of... Hello! Conversation!
Stayed tuned to Pissed on Podcast!

Frustration: Technology and Covidiots to Working Moms and Malibu North
Monday Apr 06, 2020
Monday Apr 06, 2020
Agnes' frustrations with technology opened up MarSulaika's frustration with neighbours who refuse to respect the physical distancing regulations in place to deal with COVID.
Mar Sulaika asks when Agnes started to rebel which of course was the perfect segue into Harry Potter and the traditional roles of women (which almost got Agnes onto her soapbox!)
Next, questions about a remote air force station leads to ferry routes and the looking up of Malibu North.
Mar Sulaika discusses the correlation between writing and jazz which relates to Ron Howard... of course...??
We end on quite a chuckle today so stick with us to the very end.
Editorial comment: Yes, "dick around" is a technical term. :-)

Or maybe we don't need threads.
COVID in Care Facilities is a very real stress - Mar Sulaika's mom is in care (but sense of humour prevails if you want to check out her latest article, link at the bottom.)
Jann Arden entered the discussion, both as a fellow podcaster and as an author.
What happens after COVID? We wade in with some opinions. Add yours at our website.
Agnes discusses her need to create a language alert to stay on Apple Podcast's good side. And of course Agnes can't resist trying to technologize Mar Sulaika!
Note from Agnes: please be patient with the sound as I try to find the right equipment mix to keep my two-year-old grandson in sight while tuning out his activity of choice! #mycovidchoices
